Amanda is a Veteran of the Armed Forces who is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Licensed Master Addiction Counselor (LMAC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Kansas State University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Her graduate degree was focused on clinical mental health with a sub-concentration in Military Servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
She is a strong believer that people change everyday and this best happens from a teamwork approach between the clinician and client. She also incorporates a strength-based approach; meaning, she is not simply asking, “What is wrong with you?” she focuses on “What is right with you?”
Amanda enjoys working with teens up to late adulthood; to include individual sessions, family therapy, and group therapy. She specializes in various forms of trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, obsessive compulsive behaviors and thoughts, and defiant/conduct disorders.
Amanda uses a combination of several therapeutic techniques with her clients to ensure each person is provided the individualized care she believes every person deserves. A few of her therapy approaches are as follows:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Finding Words, Experiential Focused Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Military Culture Focused Therapy – to include active duty Servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
