Jovonna is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Oral Roberts University and her Master of Social Work from Newman University. Her undergraduate degree focused on the strengths perspective, while her graduate degree focused on family systems.
Jovonna firmly believes that there is at least one positive aspect in every situation and that just about any behavior can be transformed into strength. She believes that every misbehavior is simply a positive behavior gone awry. She focuses on identifying areas in the lives of her clients that could benefit from these transformed behaviors. Jovonna’s faith is very important to her and she therefore, strongly believes in the power of prayer.
Jovonna thoroughly enjoys working with teens to young adults, from ages 12-22. Her specialties include in depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Jovonna’s primary therapeutic techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Jovonna also has a strong interest in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skill building.
