Entering this profession later in life gives me a unique experience on how better to help you. Blending the personal successes and difficulties of daily life with education, training, and work experience gives me a non-judgmental perspective in coming along beside you and your difficulties.
Education was accomplished by earning a Masters Degree in Social Work from Wichita State University. Training is evidenced by, but not limited to, achieving Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker status and completing initial EMDR training. Work experience is noted by improving the quality of life for clients in a community mental health setting. I successfully help people discover how to manage their moods better, address behavioral issues, and decrease the negative impact of past trauma (verbal, physical, and sexual) by using a variety of professional tools.
The guiding principle to my practice is the story of Joseph in Genesis. Joseph sums up that his difficulties were initially meant for harm and then turned for good “to preserve many people alive”. I believe that learning to successfully face and overcome your difficulties can become a foundation of a fuller life for you.
