I recently made a career change from nursing to counseling, completing the Marriage and Family Therapy master’s degree program at Friends University, Wichita, KS. I addition to a RN degree, I have a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and I have been teaching pregnancy and childbirth education classes for almost 20 years.
I am currently licensed as a Temporary-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in helping you take control of the anxiety or depression which may be keeping you from living a full, satisfying life. I help you develop practical skills and techniques you can apply immediately to begin feeling better.
I also specialize in pre-marital and marriage counseling. As John and Julie Gottman says, “In all kinds of relationships, people have conflicts and disagreements and hurt one another’s feelings. What determines the success of the relationship is the way people deal with conflict.” That’s what I do…help you deal with conflict.
During pre-marital counseling, we anticipate areas of conflict and how to avoid them. In marriage counseling, we figure out where/why you’re having conflict and develop ways the two of you can work together to successful deal with your conflict and have the kind of relationship you desire.
Areas of specialization:
Marital and pre-marital
Pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum
Sleep or insomnia
