Greetings, I am looking forward to working with you to help you achieve your goals whatever they may be. I work mainly with women. Whether you are dealing with life challenges in general or issues specifically related to being a woman, I can help. My goal is to help women become empowered in all areas of their life.
I believe we can change how we live by changing how we think. This isn’t easy but it can be done. We can change our negative self-thoughts and unhealthy behaviors. We can learn how to express ourselves in an assertive way and set healthy boundaries with others. We can overcome trauma (physical, sexual, mental, or emotional) we have experienced and move from surviving to thriving. We can change how we relate to others and improve our relationships. We can take control of our finances. We can improve our body image. We can challenge the cultural and societal messages we receive. We can make healthy choices. We can learn how to manage and overcome anxiety and depression or anything else that is keeping us from reaching our potential.
I do a lot of assessment when you start therapy to figure out where you came from and how you got to where you are now. This is essential. We will be partners in this journey and together we will determine the best treatment approach for your specific situation. I believe that therapy should take place in a judgment free environment. I want you to feel safe and respected in therapy. Whatever you are feeling is valid. I may challenge your beliefs (and we will explore where these originated) but I will be respectful of them.
During a difficult time in my life, I sought therapy and know from personal experience how beneficial therapy can be. I also know that therapy is challenging work but if you are willing to do that work you will see progress. Working together we can help you take control of whatever it is that is keeping you from living a full and satisfying life.
In addition to being a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist, I am also a RN, have a degree in Women’s Studies, was a doula, and taught pregnancy and childbirth education classes for many years.
Please note that I am only seeing clients via telehealth/teletherapy (not in person) and I am only seeing individuals (not couples or families).
